After a nearly month-long project time out for changes to meet permit requirements, DC Water’s pipe rehab project in Foxhall Village has resumed forward motion, but completion may now be pushed to October.
The contractor, on June 8, 2018, finished installing fencing to protect trees and moved bypass piping from the sidewalk to the street gutter, action required by a permit under the city transportation department, according to the DC Water project manager.
The purpose of the midstream changes was unclear, since some trees have been fenced, while others haven’t, and some sections of the yellow bypass pipe remain on the sidewalk.
DC Water initially announced the project would run from February 2018 to August 2018. Requests for replacement of lead pipe on private property of homeowners also have slowed the project timetable.
