An extensive renovation of Hardy Park is “now in the procurement phase to hire a design/build firm,” with a budget of $5.25 million, according to the office of Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Cheh.
The budget, with current fiscal year funding of $1 million and an additional $4.25 million in 2019, involves a new playground, splash pad and renovation of the existing field and pathways, among other improvements, according to Cheh’s office. The firm is expected to appear at a coming Foxhall Village-area community meeting to discuss the project and seek comment.
Hardy Park Field House was renovated in 2015, a project costing $437,114, with the most expensive line item a $45,160 restroom redo. In a 2017 project, the Hardy Park tennis courts and basketball court were renovated, using money remaining from the budget for the field house work.
