Dump trucks and heavy earth movers beeped and growled Saturday morning on MacArthur Boulevard at Q Street as a crew from Capitol Paving dug up the road to make way for resurfacing in the wake of Wednesday’s water main break.

The job might take until Wednesday to complete, according to Immar Campos, a Capitol Paving supervisor. The weather, with rain in the forecast, could slow progress.
Following replacement of the broken pipe section, the road is being repaved from the point of the break, at 4559 MacArthur, to Q Street, and then a stretch of Q Street, heading south.
The road, lined with a train of dump trucks and piles of dirt, had been cracked and rippled by the torrent of water from the main break. (See, MacArthur Blvd. Becomes A River)
