
AVON 39 walkers make their way up P Street in Foxhall Village on a drizzly and chilly Saturday, May 6, 2017, part of the 39.3-mile course traveled over the weekend to raise money to support breast cancer research, treatment and education. More than 1,700 walkers and crew members participated in the two-day event, according to National Development Manager Emily Bottie. Data for the 2016 DC event show $4.8 million raised, with with $200,000 going to the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University to increase access to comprehensive screening services, including transportation, for women living in the area.
